ATPL Ground School Full Time Courses

Entry Requirements

To enter the course you must hold a ICAO Private Pilots Licence, which means you can hold a PPL issued from almost any country. You must also be at least 18 years old to enter this course.

Course Outline

In order to be eligible to be entered into the EASA Examinations you must have completed the Bristol GS Theoretical knowledge syllabus, which includes:

  • 700 hrs of classroom tuition over 24 weeks
  • Pass 2 assessed exercises in each subject
  • Pass an in-house final examination in each subject

Subjects Covered

The subjects you will study are divided into 3 Modules, which are detailed below:

MODULE 1

  • Meteorology
  • Navigation
  • Instrumentation
  • Human Performance & Limitation

MODULE 2

  • Radio Navigation
  • Flight Planning
  • Air Law
  • Aircraft General Knowledge

MODULE 3

  • Mass & Balance
  • Performance
  • Principle of Flight
  • Operational Procedure
  • VFR & IFR Communications

After the completion of each module a study break of approximately 4 weeks is given prior to exams being conducted.

  • Attend a brush up course

Time:

Generally to complete the distance learning course it takes between 4 to 6 months per module if you study at least 3 hours per day 5 times per week.

Exam Entry Requirements:

Once the Module 1 distance Learning phase is completed you will join us for one week brush up followed by the first set of EASA exams. The brush up training is a compulsory requirement unless you meet the requirements of CAP 804 Part D.

If you meet the hours requirement you do not have to complete the course work or brush up and can self sign in for the exams. However, in the vast majority of cases it is advisable to complete the course work and brush up to ensure success at your first exam sitting.
